We are seeing OnePlus Nord 2 rumors for quite a while. And OnePlus Nord 2 is finally here with all its glory. It’s going to be the first smartphone by OnePlus with a MediaTek chipset inside. It is available for early access from 26th of July and it is available for open sales from 28th of July.
Mediatek Dimensity 1200-AI
It is the first smartphone by OnePlus to have a MediaTek chipset. And it is also one of the first devices to come with this chipset in India. They equipped the OnePlus Nord 2 with MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI. OnePlus has partnered with MediaTek to create this custom MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip. Its AI functionality boosts its performance significantly. It outperforms the SnapDragon 870 in AnTuTu benchmarks.
50 MP triple camera and 32 MP front camera
OnePlus Nord 2 also comes with a 50MP triple camera setup along with OIS. It houses SONY IMX766 sensor. The same sensor has also housed in OnePlus 9 smartphones. With the addition of OIS in the camera system, we can expect decent photo and videos capabilities from this smartphone. It can shoot up to 4k @ 30 fps.
In its front, it houses an IMX615 sensor by Sony. It is a 32MP sensor. With 32MP you can expect a good amount of details from your selfies. Which is both an upgrade and downgrade. With a single front camera, you will have more usable display real estate resulting in better binge watching experience. But it comes at the cost of the Wide-angle lens that was available with the original Nord.
65 Watt Warp Charge
The smartphone supports 65 Watt warp charge. The 65 watt charger comes in the box. Though, there is no wireless charging. But seeing the budget it doesn’t bother me much. It can give you a full day of usage with 15 minutes of charging. The battery is a dual cell battery. It has a battery capacity of 4500 mAh. It can easily last you a day with a little left to spare. And when you do need to top up a full charge from 0 to 100 will take around 35 minutes. Which is quite fast.
Storage and memory
The smartphone comes with UFS 3.1 storage. You can get up to 256GB of storage coupled with up to 12GB of RAM. WIth UFS 3.1, applications and games will load faster. And 12GB of Ram is more than what you will ever need for your day-to-day tasks.
Display and Build
It comes with a 6.43 inch 90hz Super AMOLED panel. You will have a wonderful binge-watching experience thanks to dual speakers. 90hz panel will ensure smooth scrolling and browsing experience.
It comes with three color options one of which is an India exclusive color. Grey Sierra, the Blue Haze, and Green Woods (India exclusive).
OnePlus’s Oxygen OS is one of the best android flavors. It’s basically stock android with few customization options. Unlike other budget-centric brands, the OnePlus’s Oxygen OS doesn’t come with bloatware. The UI is quite clean and comes with several nifty features to make our lives easier.
With the Oxygen OS, you get AOD support. You can also perform some functions that are not available in stock android. Oxygen OS comes with a sound recorder.
The base model of the OnePlus Nord 2 is priced at ₹ 27999 ($400) and comes equipped with 6GB of RAM and which is coupled with 128 GB of storage. In this price segment, it competes with the likes of Mi 11x, RealMe X7 and the upcoming POCO F3 GT. OnePlus has also launched their OnePlus Buds pro which comes with ANC. Price of Buds pro hasn’t been revealed in India yet but will be available at around $150 in US. POCO F3 GT is launching in India tomorrow. I personally, like the OnePlus Nord’s look as compared to POCO F3 GT. Let’s wait and see what Xiaomi has in store for us tomorrow.
